Wednesdays – Medicine Buddha & Mahakala Puja

Medicine Buddha practice focuses on the direct realization of the mind’s naturally pure nature to dissolve the "three poisons"—ignorance, attachment, and aversion—which are the root of all illness. Practitioners visualize themselves or their afflicted body parts as the deity—a transparent form of deep blue lapis lazuli light—while reciting the core mantra to invoke healing nectar that neutralizes negative karma.

Mahakala is considered to be an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. It is believed he manifested in this form to provide a more direct protection to practitioners, combining the aspects of compassion with the power to overcome obstacles.
